My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Let me just say that it is true that people either like this book or they don't. As I look over other's reviews I can see that most everyone that enjoyed the book got something meaningful from it, as did I.
At one point in the book, I wanted to stop reading, but I didn't and I am very glad I continued. I usually don't like any books that have anything to do with tragedy that concerns children. They are too sad for me and at one point I did cry while reading the story.
I have dog-eared three pages in the book. These mark three key sentences or paragraphs that allowed me to rate the book as one I would recommend.
The first one states, "Her love is much stronger than your fault could ever be." It's a possible realization that I needed to hear. The second one states, "Humans, on the other hand, having a knack for taking a verb that is alive and full of grace and turning it into a dead noun or principle that reeks of rules-then something growing and alive dies." Lastly, the third states, "Mack, I don't want to be first among a list of values; I want to be at the center of everything," which puts a new spin on the lists we make of our priorities.
Hopefully this book will reveal something to everyone and even though it is fiction, it gives us an insight into why things may happen, and a view of possible ways to deal with them.
